Like many of you, I've faced a daunting health crisis. During college, an unexpected brain bleed necessitated emergency surgery and left me temporarily paralyzed. Though a devastating experience, I thankfully made a full recovery. This journey transformed a young man who once walked with a limp into a surgeon capable of removing brain tumors and stabilizing spine fractures.
The memories of that time remain vivid: the pain, the fear, the hopelessness that lingered even during recovery. MEET THE DOCTOR
Born and raised in Southern California, I am deeply committed to treating every patient who walks through my doors like a neighbor and a friend. After graduating from UCLA, I earned my medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), returned home for my neurosurgery residency at UC Irvine, and completed advanced fellowship training in skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgery. Because neurological and spinal conditions can feel incredibly daunting, my approach begins long before we look at an MRI. True healing requires looking beyond physical scans to focus on the emotional and mental toll of these conditions. I always remind my patients to be kind, gentle, and caring toward themselves as we navigate their journey together, ensuring they leave my office with clinical intimidation stripped away and a clear, confident understanding of their care.
While my specialized training brings the highest level of technical precision to complex brain, skull base, and spine procedures, my ultimate philosophy is rooted in conservative care. Surgery is a powerful tool, but it is always our last resort. I operate under a simple, unwavering standard: I will only recommend a treatment path that I would confidently choose for my own family.
